Need of sewerage Treatment plant:

1)    Unsafe disposal of sewage into the river Mandovi.

2)    Rise water table during monsoon causing overflow of septic tank.

3)    The area being close to Panaji city has high housing demand which would generate problems of disposal of sewage.

4)    The area has great tourism potential hence situation in tourist season would be  bad due to high extraction  levels of water and more generation of waste.

IV)Location of STP in the area under project consideration:

The topography of the project area is hilly area sloping towards river Mandovi, location of discharge of the treated sewerage from the intake of water works and the other utilities like land available, power facilities, road access and communication facilities etc. was considered to locate the sewage treatment plant.

The plants are proposed to be located at three places thus dividing the entire project area into 3 distinct sewage district to facilitate the proper use of the sewage treatment plant. The locations of the three plants are at

1)    Nerul Dhareshwar

2)    Salvador  Do Mundo

3)    Giri.
